This fantastic 3 day break combines exploring film locations with a visit to the fabulous Beatles Story attraction, including entry to the unique new Elvis and Us exhibition, opening to the public on 5th October 2011. Day 1
Your base in Liverpool is the city’s newest 4-star venue, the vibrant and exciting Hotel Indigo, located in the heart of the commercial district. The unique design of this glamorous boutique hotel has been inspired by its historical and cultural surroundings.
The focal point of the hotel is the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar and Grill . As the first British Chef to be awarded 3 Michelin stars, Marco is a name synonymous with quality and finesse and in keeping the theme of this tour, is also a star of the small screen in the phenomenally successful TV series, Hell’s Kitchen.
Marco’s restaurants are all about the experience, buzz and unique atmosphere of dining with friends and family in gorgeous, lively surroundings. You can sample this first hand with a 3 Course Dinner taken from the set menu at the restaurant included on one night during your stay.
You can take your Mersey Ferry River Explorer Cruise at any time during your stay. The last cruise departs at 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays (3pm Mon-Fri), so if you’re staying over the weekend, why not take this early evening cruise to enjoy fantastic views of the historic waterfront from the river as the sun goes down.
Day 2
This morning start the day with a Liverpool Film Locations Taxi Tour . Your local guide will bring the city’s colourful history to life as you’re taken on a tour of iconic film locations in the city, including those associated with the Beatles. Your 3 hour tour will include plenty of stops for photo opportunities as you visit heritage sites like the historic Waterfront and the Victorian area, where Sherlock Holmes was filmed.
This afternoon you will be visiting the world famous multi award-winning Beatles Story attraction, which includes entry to a global first - the unique multi-media 'Elvis and Us' Exhibition , exploring how The Fab Four were influenced by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll opened in October 2011. The exhibition will include rare and exclusive artefacts from both The Beatles Story and Graceland archives, many of which have never been exhibited publicly.
Although famous for their music, both Elvis and the Beatles had successful film careers - Elvis made 31 films as an actor, as well as appearing in documentaries and the Beatles starred in Hard Day’s Night (1964) and Help (1965). Many films and documentaries about the life and times of the Fab 4 have benefited from the authenticity of being filmed in the lads’ home town.
Day 3
This morning, be sure to make time to visit the fabulous new Museum of Liverpool which opened to rapturous reviews from the public on 19 July this year. Entry to the museum is free. Fab Four fans will be able to immerse themselves in the Beatles’ lives, as Liverpool-based Hurricane Films, have created an ‘immersive’ 360-degree rollercoaster ride into the birth of a musical and cultural revolution. You'll be able to watch the story of John, Paul, George and Ringo unfold around them in front of the actual stage from Woolton church hall where Lennon and McCartney first met.
Meanwhile football fans can enjoy a trip to the match in the Kicking and Screaming football show, which celebrates the city’s passion for the ‘beautiful game’. The film features Liverpool and Everton fans, who reveal some momentous events that have shaped the two teams. Visitors get to sit in actual seats from both stadiums while they watch the action unfold. Expect a burst of You’ll Never Walk Alone on the background soundtrack.
You can pick up free timed tickets for the Beatles and/or Football shows in the Wondrous Place Gallery from the ground floor welcome desk.
